Although our earliest dated Bagshaw died in Nottinghamshire, the majority of the family are Derbyshire through and through, with roots in the Scarcliffe, Bakewell, Matlock and Brassington areas before the expansion mainly throughout England and particularly into Lancashire and Cheshire.
The early generations made their living from the soil, many classed as farmers on the various census retuns over the early decades of 1841 and beyond.
