Friday 31st May (evening) - Grand Marquee/Wellhead Field
The crowning of the Jubilee Queen and an award to the town's Glamorous Granny. A beautiful tiara has been specially made in London for the Golden Jubilee Queen and the organising committee is now hoping for plenty of applications from young ladies aged between 14 and 18. Entry forms can be obtained from Bourne Grammar School, the Robert Manning Technology College and Bourne Youth Centre. Closing date April 26th.

Launch of a balloon race and the opening of a beer festival organised by Bourne and district Round Table in conjunction with local licensees, to be held that evening until late and also on the following three days from 12 noon until late. Exact times to be confirmed later.

Family ceilidh with Eilidh's Ceilidh Band to be followed later in the evening with pop bands and a disco with Eddie Lunn.

Saturday 1st June - Grand Marquee
A demonstration of watercolour painting will be given in the morning by Bob Watkins to be followed by a Brush Dance workshop by Eric of Eilidh's Ceilidh band. The M C will be Mick Bannister.

In the early afternoon, there will be a Tae Kwon Do demonstration by Annabel Murcott and another by the Bourne Borderers.

Also music by the Daughters of Eve, an all-girl band and the Soul Band from Bourne Grammar School.

A children's fancy dress competition will also be held during the afternoon.

Outside, there will be lots of amusements for both adults and children including a miniature version of Tuby's Fair, food outlets and stalls.

In the evening there will be line dancing followed by professional and local bands and a disco with Eddie Lunn.

Sunday 2nd June - Grand Marquee
Fun Dog Show at 11 a m organised by the Bourne Support Group for the Wood Green Animal Shelter.

There will also be other activities inside and out and entertainment by local groups.

In the evening, Bill Pauley and his band will perform with intercessions by other local groups and Nick Gomme, guitar.

Sunday 2nd June - Abbey Church
A service of thanksgiving will be held at 3 p m with Songs of Praise involving local schoolchildren. The preacher will be Ian Knox.

Monday 3rd June - around the town
Carnival Day - M C Mick Bannister. A total of 38 floats have already been entered for the Grand Parade. The assembly point for motorised floats is in Pinfold Road between noon and 1 p m. Others including decorated cycles, prams and individuals in fancy dress will assemble at the football ground on the Abbey Lawn together with the Peterborough Highland Pipe Marching Band. The parade will set off at 2 p m from Pinfold Road with the other entrants joining in when the procession reaches the Spalding Road entrance of the Abbey Lawn and the subsequent route will be featured in the Golden Jubilee Programme which will pass through the town centre before returning to Pinfold Road. Judging will take place during the procession.

Back at the Wellhead, the Peterborough Highland Pipe Band will be playing together with other local bands.

The Grand Draw will take place at 4 p m with more than 100 prizes, the first of which is £200 in cash (donated by Warners Midlands plc), second prize his and hers watches worth £150 (donated by J H Wand Group), third prize a gents mountain bike (Cherryholt Cycles), fourth prize a chauffer driven and candlelight dinner for two (the Black Horse, Grimsthorpe), fifth prize a luxury hamper (Richardsons, Auctions), plus many others donated by businesses in Bourne. The target for the sale of draw tickets is £5,000. Betty and Jim James are appealing for help in selling tickets and perhaps some kind people will offer to cover their own street or neighbourhood. In the early evening, there will be a children's karaoke with prizes followed by a performance from Occasional Brass led by Roger Bunting.

Continuous entertainment will follow until 10 p m when a fireworks display will bring the weekend of celebration to a close.

Toilet facilities will be available.

Bourne and district Flower Club will take over the Darby and Joan Club for the entire weekend with a floral and art exhibition by the Bourne and district Art Club. Light refreshments will be available every day.

Walking tours of Bourne will be conducted by Robert Penhey.

The Heritage Centre at Baldock's Mill will be open for two weeks prior to the Jubilee weekend, during the weekend and for two weeks afterwards.

These events have been organised by a special Golden Jubilee Committee that has been working for the past few months to give Bourne a memorable celebration for this royal occasion with the co-operation of Bourne United Charities who administer the Wellhead Gardens and field.

Monday 3rd June - Bourne Youth Centre

Open display for all youth organisations to promote their work, 10 a m.

Skill 'n' fitness competition for 12-15 year and 16-18 year age groups, 10 a m. Prizes will be awarded to the team completing in the least time and to the best scoring individuals in each event.
